Medusa Amigurumi

This is my first amigurumi pattern so please tell me if there is anything wrong with it. I am using a dark green yarn by Red Heart and a D/3 mm crochet hook for this project, please let me know if you have any questions!

Note: In this pattern, the snakes on Medusa’s head only count as 1 stitch. Do not make two single crochets while making a round over one snake.

Materials:

  • Green and White Yarn
  • D/3 mm hook
  • Stuffing
  • A pair of 12mm safety eyes
  • Darning Needle

Abbreviations:

SC – Single Crochet

CH – Chain

HDC – Half Double Crochet

DC – Double Crochet

INC – Increase

DEC – Decrease

SNAKE1 – ch 11, sc in second chain from the hook, sc 2, hdc 1, dc 6

SNAKE2 – ch 8, sc in second chain from the hook, sc 2, hdc 1, dc 3

SNAKE3 – ch 15, sc in second chain from the hook, sc 2, hdc 1, dc 10

SNAKE4 – ch 6, sc in second chain from the hook, sc 2, hdc 1, dc 1, sc into same stitch

Head:

With green yarn

R1 – sc 6 into magic ring

R2 – Inc in first 2, SNAKE4, sc 1 in same stitch as snake, Inc in next 2, SNAKE2

R3 – sc 1, SNAKE1, sc 1 in same stitch as snake, sc 1, Inc, SNAKE3, sc 1 in same stitch as snake

R4 – *sc 2, inc 1* rpt around

R5: sc 2, SNAKE3, inc, sc 2, SNAKE4, inc, sc 2, SNAKE2, inc, sc 2, SNAKE1, inc, sc 2, SNAKE4

R6: *sc 4, inc 1* rpt around

R7: *sc 5, inc 1* rpt around

Switch to white yarn

R8: *sc 6 inc 1* rpt around

R9: *sc 7 inc 1* rpt around

R8-11: sc around

R12: *sc 7 dec 1* rpt around

R13: *sc 6 dec 1* rpt around

R14: *sc 5 dec 1* rpt around

R15: *sc 4 dec 1* rpt around

R16: *sc 3 dec 1* rpt around

R17: *sc 2 dec 1* rpt around

Fasten off, place safety eyes between rounds 10 and 11. Stuff. If you want, you can embroider a little mouth like I did.

Legs (Make 2):

Note: In this pattern, we build the body off of the legs. DO NOT finish off the second leg. I repeat, DO NOT finish off the second leg.

FD: sc 6 in a magic ring

R1: inc 6

R2: *sc 1, inc 1* rpt around

R3-6: sc around

On the first leg, leave a long tail for when you whip stitch the legs together over 5 or 6 stitches. Now, using the unfinished second leg, begin working on the body.

Body:

R7-11: sc around

R12: *sc 3 dec 1* rpt around

R13: *sc 2 dec 1* rpt around

R14: *sc 1 dec 1* rpt around

Arms (Make 2):

R1: sc 4 in a magic ring

R2: inc 4

R3: *sc 1, inc 1* rpt around

R4-9: sc around

Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing. Weave in the ends, and she’s complete! Thank you for supporting me throughout my first ever amigurumi pattern, and I hope you enjoyed it!
